Welcome — I’m Lisa!

I grew up in Colorado and have always loved living here, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the Rocky Mountains. As a kid, I found myself always wanting to be the “listener” and “peace maker” among my friends ( a legitimate challenge during those teenage years). I walked into the field of psychology as a career path, working with adults challenged with mental and emotional stressors during my undergraduate work. However, it was not until my first job post-undergrad, at a residential treatment center, that I truly started to experience myself as making a real impact on others. I will be forever grateful for the experience at a residential treament center, where I worked with high-risk adolescents and in a team environment. Growing from a fairly naive, new post-college mental health worker, into a more confident and humbled supervisor, I realized that I craved more education and training. I completed my graduate degree in California and have and will continue to grow and learn to be the best therapist I can for my clients.

Making the move back to Colorado, from California I was very fortunate to be hired into a position at a Brain Function Imaging clinic, where I was immersed in a very new and exciting field of neuroscience. This knowledge and the way that “we are wired” continues to be an important part of my work with clients today. After several years as a clinician, my professional path moved back into the nonprofit arena, and I was hired as a supervisor for a community-based treatment program for high-risk adolescents, and their families. I furthered my work focused more on the therapist role, working as a family therapist in the community and finding joy in helping families to function more successfully together.

After several years as a family-therapist, I found my way to the attachment-based therapy model for couples, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). After attending several training courses, I realized that my heart was drawn to this model and helping couples to understand challenging patterns, and find new levels of trust, emotional safety and hope together. I joined a group practice and continued to build my knowledge and experience working with couples and using EFT strategies. During my time at the group practice I was also enlightened by the power of experiential therapy, and specifically the AEDP or Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy to work with clients to move through experiences such as depression, anxiety and feeling stuck, to a renewed sense of hope and well-being in their lives. I continue to now integrate various experiential therapies, polyvagal theory, somatically focused and attachment-based therapies into my work in private practice.

I’m also a proud pup mom, to my feisty and warm-hearted dog, Henry and continue to enjoy the outdoors. I love the power of dance, the experience of a strong beat and feeling of energy being moved through the body. I have found and continue to understand the benefit of movement and connection to overall physical and emotional health. I am close with my family, love being an aunt and completely appreciate my friend group.

My Philosophy

I believe that you have an innate ability to heal, and it’s my job to facilitate that healing within you.

  • We all have our own internal true self, wisdom, strength, and knowledge.

  • We will struggle and have days that we feel like we aren’t good enough or feel lost and alone.

  • We have all the resources we need internally toward healing, feeling like we are good enough, we do matter and we can have connected and meaningful relationships with others.

I am here to help you to rediscover that true self, to understand your barriers, and to explore which parts of you are protective and which are holding you back. Together, we’ll help you find connectedness and peace again.

I am an inclusive practice, and a safe place for all people to be treated with respect and dignity

Do you think we’d be a great fit for working together?
